ridge augmentation

Over time, extraction sites will shrink. This leads to bone loss and creates a deficiency in the bone ridge. In order to place a dental implant in proper position or to provide an appropriate conventional dental restoration, the technique of ridge augmentation allows your periodontist to re-build the ridge level of bone.

The bone used to augment the ridge may be an “autograft” (the patient’s own bone) or an “allograft” (bone provided by a tissue bank).
